Adobe still sharing the love – surprise book sent from my Amazon wishlist

Filed under: Flash, Flex — Wrote by Campbell on Thursday, June 28th, 2007 @ 3:06 pm

Just got a nice little surprise that brightened my day. A while ago I heard a rumor that Adobe was sending out books to people that were on Amazon wish lists. Books on Flex. So I put my wish list here on this site. And today I just signed for my surprise package that contained a nice shinny new copy of Flex 2.0 programming guide by two of the people I would vote for Flex rockstars (Joey Lott and Chafic Kazoun).

Also in the care package was a yoyo that instantly took me bak to my childhood, and a crazy rubber jelly fish thing branded with FX. Draw the connection lol?

So nice to see the big companies don't forget us developers on the other side of the world. Thank you goes out to Mike and Adobe me thinks. :)

Just a quick link/props to Carlos from papevision, as its late

His comercial site http://carlosulloa.com/ has a cool little demo where you can drift a ford focus rally car round in 3d.I have always wanted to see a game do this.

Looks like he has been watching the new features of the new flash player closely:

Nice work Carlos!

Never underestimate what a fresh pair of eyes can see!

This pretty much sums up what I had missed, and realised after getting a fresh pair of eyes on many projects.

Always try to step back from things when you have been working on them closely.

ROAD TRIP!! Adobe takes a bus and goes onAIR?

Filed under: Flash, Flex — Wrote by Campbell on Monday, June 11th, 2007 @ 5:04 pm

Just saw a link to http://onair.adobe.com/ and it looks like the adobe peeps are going to take a nice relaxing roady round the states after working so hard on the flex 3 beta release.

Imagine This bus pimped out AIR Style?

"The on AIR Bus Tour is a 18 City tour over the next couple of months across North America. We are packing the bus full of Flash, Flex and JavaScript developers and going across the continent to hold free developer conferences for anyone interested in learning more about the Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR)."

Thats so random but I love the idea! And its a comfy lifestyle on the road by the looks of some of the images. The most geeky and definitely the best feature is the BUS HAS ITS OWN API. The API will give access to all the media, with all the images and video will have geo coding so you can see where the media was made. Also the bus glows in the dark???

They seem to have even stocked up on the Xbox hardware, with special equipment for all you rockstar developers out there.

Mike and Mike have done a small video to explain the Roady here: http://video.onflex.org/

And lastly there looks to be a live video feed from the bus starting in 23 days, which I can imagine will be an interesting feed to say the least…..errrrkkk.
