Track a users clicks location on your web UI?

Another new service which has come out really surprised me. Its the simplest in idea but seems to be really well executed and a really usefull tool. All I can say is thank goodness its not another social tagging app. This script/service actually tracks a users clicks on your web UI and shows the history like a thermal map. DAMN COOL!

Crazy Egg are the developers of this new service which shows the history of the clicks in either a really easy to read "Heatmap" (think preditor vision) or an overlay which is really a bar chart in a kinda bulky colored box. NOTE: Just found http://stage.crazyegg.com where you can view a demo and sign up for a beta invite. And its made by a parent comany called http://www.apples-to-oranges.com/ From what I can see.

As with all these projects its still in beta but the idea looks Uber cool. Im almost worried these days that the betas come out as images and the cool factor dies down before the product is released. I think I will have to write a class to do this in flash and load in a heat map over the top….wont be to hard….just have to find the time to code it up. There is honestly so much work out there for flash developers, even in the areas Im interested in (Frameworks) and Im really having fun refining my OOP design skills (man thats g33k1)

Been a long while…..

Ok so you may have been thinking I have been a bit slack with the posts lately but all with good cause. I have now changed jobs and working away with John at BlueSpark. Ended up that I will be contracting back to my old work a couple of days a week (strange how it works out). Thing have been moving at a wierd pace but I have really just been keeping on keeping on.

Much like JesterXL I have been working on my design paterns alot lately and amazingly really enjoying it. And after you have a good code base running it is really nice to work with. Hope other people are reaching the same stage as I think the coming technologies might require us flashers to be a little more concensoius (spelling).

Saw Sephiroth has a really nice flash Gallery example with full source. It really reminds me of Pacasa’ and is really nice to use. Its really quick using AMFPHP. I have often wondered about how well 8.5 playa would perform with some of these tasks codedto strict as3.

Finally after starting a company I am working my way through all of everyone else’s advice and today came across a good article:  Entrepreneurial Proverbs.

So now that I am all settled in expect my many ushall crazy annoying posts emoticon and cool pics like this Jet powered Beetle….make mine a mustang lol.
