Ok so im not sure how many of you saw Shunjies post about this RIA he made with flex 2.0, but its starting to look like the beginings of something really great. To check it out you will need the latest beta version of the flash player which can be obtained from http://labs.macromedia.com/.
He has some really cool things in the pipe line for it and it really sounds expandable, and although he has got alot of hits he hasnt had much feedback. We all know that after alot of hard work its really nice to hear a bit of feedback and a few ideas…..so why not head over to http://expertria.com/shock/ , check it out and give him a little word on what you think.
Unfotunately I am typing this with a patch over one eye so youll have to excuse the typos. I got some more metal stuck in my eye again while grinding my convertible mustang. After a quick trip to A&E I got it all sorted and its ok but im pirate boy for the afternoon again lol.Man what a month.
You may have noticed the WebDU banner I stuck on the side of this blog. I went to last years MXDU and had a great time and came back all revved up about doing some cool work. Unfortunately for me, after paying Lawyers bills and setting aside the money for the new company Im pretty skint. So sorry to the peeps I promised to shout a beer to, but that might have to be put on a tab for next year when my new company takes over the digital world and earns me billions of dollars.
Haha no seriously Im pretty gutted that I cant make it as there were a few cool subjects on. So everyone who is going please blog a few updates to keep me in the loop
Yep believe it or not its a sport. I am considering going to watch just to see it. Nathan Torkington pointed me to this: Segwayhtpolo.com
"Its only days away when Steve Wozniak, Co-Founder of Apple Computer, arrives in New Zealand with his Segway HT. Steve is here to put his Segway HT Polo team “the Aftershocks” to challenge the New Zealand “Pole Blacks” in the 1st World Segway HT Tournament.
The “Godfather” of computing is bringing his Silicon Valley mates to play sport and check New Zealand out for opportunities with an opening Gala Dinner to be held at the Spencer on Byron Hotel, Takapuna on Friday 17th February 2006." via Scoop.co.nz
So seeing Waz is gona be there and this sport seems like a bit of a laugh to watch I might just have to head down and watch New Zealand Kiwi some USA butt!
So there you are, about to make a movieclip dragable, or perhaps your working in a javascript environment, about to make a div dragable. There is something I was never aware of that happens in windows which i have come to expect but never knew about. But more on that in a sec.
First I will set the scene. A friend at work was showing me an Ajax, web 2….. Email interface and he was trying to click things but inadvertantly started draging them. You know how you zoom around the screen with your mouse and click on things…possibly before the mouse has come to a complete stand still. We this was happening in this email client. I wondered why I never really found this a problem with windows, but my friend soon explained.
In the registry there is a setting that defines how many pixels the mouse must move with the button down before Windows sends out the "Im draging something" message. By default it is four pixels.
You wont believe how much of a diference this made to the experience. So when your next working on your dragManager class or the likes just pay a thought to how Windows (and possibly mac’s) handel things in the desktop environment and consider putting this in your app…to give the best user experience possible.
Just thought this was something interesting I didnt know and should share.
Ok as promised I managed to get the ok to show a 3d PDF online. Remember Kudos to Right Hemisphere and adobe for this cool feature. You will need Adobe Acrobat reader 7.07 to view this. Its a piston Rod assembly which shows off some of the cool scripting abilities. There are views assigned for different steps of a process. If you dont have the right version these will not work, but you still will be able to swivel the pretty piston
