Yep as expected Macromedia today announced Studio 8 The features alone sound pretty good but I definately be upgrading to flash 8 after playing with some of its features
. Dreamweaver 8 even has an update in the studio package which is good to see as I was starting to see it loose some ground over Eclipse. It seems to be just updating feature to bring it more inline with the rest of the development systems out there though. Time will tell if this rings true with the new features. Now although I may be chomping at the bit to get the new release, I will (as will you) have to wait till september for the actual shipping date. I will have to wait till I get to work tomorow till I can look at some of the content on the Macromedia site as Im on bad wireless here. Nevermind. From what I have seen congrats to the design team at MM on a job nicely done.
You will see that Flash Paper got an update too. I have been using this since we got it at work as a cheaper alternative to PDF and have really been happy with the quality and usability. I have contiues working on my google tracker in 3D and am having alot of fun with it.
Although one of the more understated points out there in the blogs I think the flash 8 video codec will be the big Winner giving Macromedia a real foothold on the market. Just the quality alone compared to all the other codecs out there is amazing. Who knows….maybe one day ill be watching flv’s on my xbox instead of divx’s and xvid’s. I dont really think its that far off now.
Another major point is the ability of flash to now upload. Yep finally. But the way in which flash handels it is really smooth and you might start to see flash uploaders being used in static and dynamic web pages as a means of uploads.
The time is right to be an experienced flash developer as things are really starting to hot up and it has a public image of more than just annoying opening scenes.
So till tomorow stay safe and dont forget to preorder you copy of flash 8!
Really quick post before I run off to bed I have found the best 3d engine for flash I have ever seen. The guys are so mad (crazy) they are looking at calculatinf spec ular lights in flash.
see it HERE and look out for my google ranker graph to be in 3d cause I just gotta use it for something. Nighty night.
Well its been a muh week. One of those weeks where things just come and go. Im still waiting for the release of 8ball, the release of OSX on itel, the new Mighty Mouse to arrive in Nz (and run on windows?). I read a blog post by Mike Chambers the other day about Zorn. This is Macromedias answer to the Flash Ide sucking for development. It seems it will compile flex script into swfs aswell which could mean the 15K price tag for a flex server would really be a bit of a waste. But knowing Macromedia they have a few tricks up thier slieves and for 15K I would want a few tricks. Have gotten a little miffed about the lack of flash work that I am getting through work so I am thinking I will try and open thier eyes a little by doing some work on using a 3d engine and Righthemispheres server to port 3d objects to it. Might even get the attention of macromedia if its any good
I also noted that having a site description in the meta data of my home page dropped me two places down the page (this is after a tweak too) see the Google experiment page link to the right for details!
I also find myself wondering if I will get an xbox 360 cause it sounds like the playstationIII will be able to run OSX aswell. hmm.
Thats all for now kiddies
.
P.S. if you have google Earth open this file and get a bit of a surprise at what else google earth can doo!
Hi all, well after going to bed last night not feeling so great I woke up feeling even worse and so had the day off sick. Great you would say except I slept most of the time and couldnt stand looking at the monitor so I managed to check my emails and thats it really.
SOTW: goto go see this one cause I think its damn cool http://web.burza.hr/en Its one of those sites that you can just see so much work went into it. Although beware for the broadband content. Some of thier portfolio looks really cool. Which reminds me I must put a portfolio page up on this site.
Ummmm other news there is a search site out there which searches through the audio of podcasts and video and uses speech recognition to index audio. Man I wonder how long till google takes it over HERE Amazing what is coming out of the web at the moment.
And finally I am waiting for support on windows for this wee beuty MIGHTYMOUSE cause this looks like it will rock. Cant wait for apple to move to Intel chips cause then I might be able to afford one
. Sorry for the lack of flash news but I have been busy with .Net at work so not much time.
Last night I changed the description on the index of this site which included "Campbell Andersons" and my google ranking on the page dropped 3 places. Unreal! so just a hort note try and not "’s" your keywords in the description. Although having the kewords in the description is not a positive effect (see my google experiment page for details) having the wrong words can have a negative effect
. Forewarned forarmed!
And from the dude my girlfriend would love this files: If you have done something wrong or would love to get those extra browne points, get her one of these buets:
Furgles – Cutest CD Holder in existence
Pretty darn cool!
Also have been playing with the flash.external.ExternalInterface class after listening to Mike Chambers on the Macromedia podcast. I cant say alot (dumb beta aggreement ruin my fun) but man this is going to make life alot easier when trying to intergrate flash as components in a page. Calling named functions inside flash is going to be wicked. And from my experimentation really fast in both Javascript and a little c# windows app. Another fine flash release really!.
