Goowy Mail steps it up a notch!!

Just had word from Alex Bard that Goowy mail now has a desktop client application. I have tried it out and the functionality is stable and provides a seemless intergration with the website. They have also started branding with a new logo and look which I really like.

I have to say this is one of the more advanced RIA’s made in flash at the moment and has matured into a really stable product. This new round of features in still under the BETA name so there may be bugs. If you manage to find any please report them to the guys as they always fix them promptly.

Check out  http://beta.goowy.com

The Upgrade includes:

Release Notes Scheduled for Monday, October 17th.

1.  Upgrading storage from 100MB to 2GB

2.  Launching desktop client which includes mail and calendar real-time notification, auto-login into goowy client, widgets, games and more.  This is very exciting for us because we are deploying Flash on the desktop without a browser.  This desktop client looks very different than other desktop clients you have seen (much more like Konfabulator widgets).

In the pre-beta release we have our goowy toolbar, which allows you to automatically launch any goowy apps, widgets for quote of the day, rss, and google search.  The final release will have mailbox status, and yahoo maps widgets as well.  We will continue to develop additional widgets and open up APIs for people to be able to develop to our desktop (This will be very powerful as they will be able to develop widgets using Flash rather than another 3rd party platform).

3.  Updating branding with new logo, and new website.

4.  In-client improvements including updated drag and drop (to show message being dragged), tool tips that show the person’s contact info that is emailing you if they are in your address book, google maps integration from the contacts view with a "map it" link, and new more fun navigation icons for reply, reply all, forward, etc.

 Nice work guys!!
