Look out PaperVision …. 3d room with 3d FLex components

Check this out! The 3d room I mentioned was shown at the NZFXUG has been posted. http://labs.getoutsmart.com/. Outsmart are now officially trendy as they have a "labs" subdomain :) . That comes with being in Ryan Stewarts top 3 flex firms i guess.

You can walk the little man around and interact with all the flex components as if they were 2d. Camera zooms and depth of field. Cant wait for a fighting game version. Just imagine a Ted Patrick vs Scott Barnes fight arena lol. Best of all its Kiwi (New Zealand) home grown talent!

Features of the platform include:

  • Realtime polygon rendering engine with texture mapping
  • Perspective and isometric rendering modes
  • Free and/or fixed camera control
  • Depth of field rendering effects
  • Ability to project any Flex UI, Flash SWF or FLV onto any 3D surface
  • Ability to interact with a Flex UI in 3D space

    Very cool.
    It really is kinda funny/kinda sad how every single post on the net segways back to John Dowdell, Ted Patrick and Scott Barnes having a slap fight. I really wish they would have a physical fight or drinking contest or something and move on. We could watch it on Joost. ;)

    I think they are all great guys and would hate to see any harm come to any of them. That said they put themselves in the public arena with their blog bickering so yeah some challenge and move on would be cool. And we could stream it using Flash media server and tie Silver light into it some how …..hang on …. lol ;)

    (Thanks for the heads-up on the 3D nav project. But it took me awhile of clicking to figure the SWF up there now was just an enhanced slideshow… I’ll keep an eye for it next week.)
