Will reflections become the dropshadow and emboss of the 2000’s
Yep everywhere you look your seeing the lovely relfections. Some say it cam from mac ….who knows but really I do like the look, but am worried it will become the drop shadow and emboss style of the 2000's that we saw too much of in the 90's. I too am guilty of using it on Videmo.co.nz (once again tis a slooow server sitting in my hot water cupboard…I know I know).
there are even javascripts out there to make it pretty:

Reflections are already on the way out imo.. They’re an old trick in the printing world to make things pretty, but Apple popularized them I believe. I think they will become tired in the late 2006 and replaced by something else. With the dark trend in web development right now, maybe we’ll see more glows?
Hey frebro, nice site design. Yeah you might be right. Glow it is……ill try my best to use it soon.

If bevels and drop shadows are any indication, reflections won’t go away. They’ll just become more subdued. I still see a lot of drop shadows these days, they’re just very subtle. Likewise, there are bevels, but they tend to be there just to add a tiny bit of highlighting. It’s been my experience that these trends tend to start out dominating designs. Then they blend in over time.
The problem comes when the “pros” that develop such libraries widely demonstrate uses that are blatantly bad from a usability point of view. They should be encouraging good uses, not promoting bad ones.
Great and excellent article t’s realy helpful. Thanks again.
