Still just doin it!
Ok so i have been slack lately.I have been really busy though. I have made a temporary shift into the Ruby on Rails world at the moment and its becoming a love hate relationship. I am working on a cool Photo service based product, that has some really tight focuses. Its all using Ruby on rails and DotNet. More details to come, but its a complete revamp of Tickle.co.nz.
Else where on my radar I have found the odd hour here and there to do some work on Videmo.co.nz. What is it? well its a gallery style website that you just send you MMS messages from you cellphone to, and it will magically appear online. I have a nice LightBox style flash video player for videos after they have been converted to FLV on the server. I just wrote a DotNet wrapper for the converter to launch the process and insert the relevant values into the database. Im quite happy with how it is going, but its just sad that its hard to find the time. Next mission there is to get ratings for images and videos, and also build up a bit of a library of parsers for emails from diferent suppliers emails. I.E if you send a MMS message from a vodafone phone, the message I recieve is extremely different from one from Telecom. Of course they cant follow standards. LOL
I gabed the latest Flex beta and have also started playing with that. Nice to see the documentation starting to catch up
) Great Work Adobe.
Stay tuned for some more news on videmo.co.nz as I get a few more features sorted. Please bear in mind that this server is made of old parts and lives in my hot water cupboard running on my home internet connection….so it aint the fastest.

Hey, I’m just wondering how your MMS project was coming along? I’m interested in doing a similar thing with a Coldfusion website that I am working on, but I’ve yet to find any helpful resources with information about retrieving MMS messages. My first thought was to use CFPOP to retrieve the message from a mailbox but it doesn’t appear to pass the attachments as I expected. Let me know if you can refer me to any helpful documentation or if there is anything I can do to assist with your project.
Ahhhh and welcome the joys of many providers. In NZ there are two main providers that send through the emails in totally diferent formats. I have it all working but I an using C#. I will send you an email and try and walk you through what I have done. Anyone else thinking of working on this let me know and Ill include you.

Thanks!,
